Dude! Chamber of Secrets! Loved it, man. Just plain old 100% loved it. Detailed spoilers and squeals below.
Ron and Hermione!!!!! They are so MFEO. I mean, really, really. They rock entirely. The end! When Hermione comes to the dinner! Ron stares at her with such longing. And she flings herself into Harry's arms, but she can't hug Ron. She luuuuuuuurves him too much. EEEEE! That was SO ADORABLE. And I loved that people CLAPPED for Ron and Hermione! Because Ron and Hermione!
I know H/Hers will be all, "Dude, she hugged Harry. She loves him, he loves her. Look at how he touched her hand so much." But no, because she's a 12 year old and can hug her friend but not the boy she likes. I had this problem with Michael when I was 12. <.g> Also, yes, what was with Harry and the hands? He kept tracing the hands of everyone who was petrified. I guess so when he did it to Hermione, it wouldn't look too out of place. <.g>
Okay. Enough about Ron and Hermione. <.g>
I so love the entire Weasley family. Percy's hair, in the Burrorw!! LOL Too cute. Although, sadly, they cut out the fact that Ron and Hermione wrote to each other all summer long. And Hermione signed each letter "Love from Hermione." Okay, really done now. I am such a fangirl. Arthur was just spot on, dead PERFECT. I adore him. Ginny seeing Harry was HYSTERICAL! And Rupert did such a fantastic job in the opening scenes.
Which leads me to my one big annoyance with the movies. Ron and how he's constantly freaking out as comic relief. Rupert does it well, but still. I much prefered the scenes at home, where Ron was in his element and knew what to expect and was sane even when worried in the face of Molly. I do, however, enjoy that even though he freaks out doing scary things, he is still there and doing it. But if Harry could act a little more freaked, and Ron a little less, I'd be happier.
What else? By cutting the subplot of Percy/Penelope, something quite cute, they lost the chance to show Ginny upset or worried. We barely saw anything of her in the movie - just writing in the diary. Which, yes, is a key and important thing, but I don't think the scene where she has something important to tell them, but is cut off by Percy thinking that she's gonna narc on him and his girlie, should have been cut. Just IMO.
Kenneth Bragnaugh rules. Alan Rickman was even better this time around. Sean Biggerstaff SO needs a bigger role. Christian Coulson is HOT, man. Made the scary scenes with the Basilik far less scary. Just stare at the pretty boy. The graphics were far improved - I loved the Quidditch game this time around, didn't so much last time. Although I'd think the Golden Snitch would have been charmed to not go under seats, as then a, the spectators can't see the action and b, the refs can't see anything, like if one of them had caught the snitch under there. <.shrug> Just kinda took me out of it, a little.
One of my favorite lines - "Ginny! How many times have I told you not to interact with things when you can't see where they keep their brain?" or something close to it - was cut. I'd have liked to seen Ginny reunited with her family. For being the character everything happened because of, she didn't show up much. And I know she didn't in the novel, either, but her few scenes were cut in here.
I'm sure there's more I'll think of later. But I leave you with this last thought - Ron and Hermione ROCK! : )
