October 22, 2003

it's october, not december. it's october, not december.

I turned on VH1 yesterday before work, and there was a depressing song playing. I listened for a few seconds and thought to myself, "Wow, this sounds like Sarah McLachlan." Then I watched for a few seconds and thought to myself, "Wow, she even looks like Sarah McLachlan." Turns out, of course, it *was Sarah McLachlan. LOL I had no idea she had a new album! No one does depressing like Sarah. <.g> Always makes me laugh, because I remember reading an interview where she says she's actually a very happy person. She writes these to get it all out so she *stays a happy person. Pretty neat.

I watched While You Were Sleeping last night. I just adore that movie SO MUCH. It's lovely. Made me want winter, too. LOL It's terrible. I saw a Christmas commercial the other day. And a friend in New Brunswick, Canada told me it's been snowing there. And next week, I sign up for a Christmas story exchange. And I have nsync Christmas in my CD player. And...and...and...I really should keep up with Halloween before I move on to Christmas. LOL I'm just so easily susceptible to winter and Christmas mush. LOL!

One thing that will put me in the Halloween spirit - Kate and I are going to an oldfashioned Halloween party this weekend. It's at a living museum village, with lots of volunteers dressed from the 19th century and gypsies and ghost stories around a campfire and stuff. Should be a blast!!

Old bed set here.

New bed set here.

As you can see, I went with Prairie Stars. What I found funny is that Kristine linked the purple gingham sheets with daisies on them. Those were the first sheets I saw, fell completely in love with, but they actually didn't match the swirly comforter. So when I decided to get this quilt, I got those sheets. ::bounces:: It's loverly. I adore it so much. It just brightens up my entire room!! I also have blue gingham throw pillows. I'm so happy with my decisions.

More fun pics:
Every Halloween for as along as I can remember, we've hung this rubber skeleton. His name is Emo. He has a very Polish last name I can't spell. Phupenick. I can't even do it phonetically. LOL BUt he's a good friend. Dance, Emo, dance! That's what we say when we play with him, make him move. We're, uh, weird. But it's tradition.

Also, I found this gorgeous lamp at Target. It actually holds a tea candle, and glows beautifully. I love it.

I must go pray for my Cubbies now. 4 batters up, 3 runners score. Sadly, that's the Marlins batting right there.

stuff

Man, it was SO COOL watching last night's Cubs game! That last out was so cool. And the triple! And homerun! I love my boys.

All season long I've bemoaned the fact I've never seen a grand slam. Once, we were at a ball game, and they hit one when I was getting a hot dog with my dad. Story of my life. Tonight, dad and I were cleaning my VCR, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE TV, and all of a sudden the Cubs were up 4-0. The grand slam was on in front of our eyes and we missed it. LOL

But, my VCR is cleaned, and that's important. Justin's hosting/performing on SNL tonight, which should be amusing, and JC's performing TWO of his singles on MTV on MOnday. I cannot wait, yo.

I also sent in a picture for the Boobie-thon. I really like how the pic came out, actually. Pretty fun. I'm also going to check out the echeck option for donating, or else I'll just mail in my own donation to the Foundation. It's such a great cause, and I'm glad I particpated this year. After all, two of my mom's friends have breast cancer, and mom had her big scare, so I, of course, personally think the more donations the better.

Go Cubbies!!

bedsheets

I'm torn between two sets at KMart. I like them both. However, I kinda want cute gingham sheets, which I don't think goes with option #2. But option #1 is rather bright, and I don't know if it's appropriate for all year use. Thoughts and opinions?

Option one: Prairie Star

Option two: Stencil Patchwork

m'boy

Josh has had a great weekend! Yesterday, he played soccer, scored a goal, and got his ribbon. Today, he was in a horse show, and got first place in his division!! It was so cool to see. I'm so proud of him.

And, funnily enough, my kid from school was at both events. LOL Yesterday, she saw me the minute she got out of the car, called for me, and ran over. <.g> And then today, she just stuck with me, and was just generally adorable. I love that we connected so well. Her parents like that, too. <.g> Kinda funny, though, that we're going to end up seeing each other 12 days straight now. No break for us! <.g>

Josh and I are both listening to Christmas music. I think it's perhaps a family trait.

I'm looking for new bedclothes. I've never liked my blue diamonds I've had for years, even after an episode of XF showed Scully had the same set. It's ugly. <.g> I'm looking for a patchwork quilt, with blue and pink, with minimal yellow and green, and no flowers. I'm telling you, no such quilt exists. It's highly annoying. My poor father, though. Kept trying to show me different quilts, finally gave up, saying something about how he ended up with a girl who didn't like clothes shopping or flowers. I guess I'm a bit of an odd chica. <.g> But I have not given up - next stop, Kmart, for the Martha Stewart collection.

I think I'd like to participate in the Boobiethon, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about it. Do I send a picture only if I donate? One, the other, or both? Help? <.g>

WHOOOO! Home run for the Cubbies!!!!! 4-0, now. I'm so excited. Go, Cubbies!!!!
