Friday Five! 1. What was
Friday Five!
1. What was the first thing you ever cooked?
Haven't a clue, actually. I used to help my mom bake cookies, and I had to taste EVERYTHING. Baking soda, flour, baker's chocolate... everything. I guess the first thing I probably cooked on my own was either chocolate chip cookies or something along the lines of Tombstone pizzas or Kraft mac and cheese.
2. What's your signature dish?
Not sure I have one. I make a fat free keylime pie... that's tasty. I also make a chicken and rice dish with Lipton's onion new potatoes... that's quite yummy. Real high on the carbs, but tasty just the same. =)
3. Ever had a cooking disaster? (tasted like crap, didn't work, etc.) Describe.
Well, I don't claim to be a cook. The things I make best are the things that are 80% put together already and I just have to toss a few more ingredients in and throw it in the oven. But I don't think anything's been unedible. Hmm. I'm learning. Aarti's a pro chef, practically, so in watching her, I'm learning what spices to put in to make things more flavorful, etc. That's really my problem... I can follow a recipe, but I don't know what else to add to jazz stuff up a bit. But no real disasters, I don't think. Other than maybe not greasing the cookie sheet, but even that wasn't too traumatic.
4. If skill and money were no object, what would make for your dream meal?
What's with all the hard questions? <.g> I am a chicken person. And a potato person. Either one prepared just about any way would be good with me. Don't like pig much, or seafood at all. So that takes away some "fancier" types of meals. I'm also up for trying just about anything. Unless it's seafood. Lol. Which I have tried, thank you very much, because I won't turn down anything I haven't tried at least once, but I don't think I'd be up for trying it again. So maybe my dream meal would be something adventurous prepared perfectly. Cuz that would be fun.
5. What are you doing this weekend?
I'm home. It's my sister's 19th birthday on Sunday, so we're celebrating tomorrow. I think she and I are going to see Crossroads tonight, and tomorrow both sets of grandparents are coming over for lunch. Then our family (just the four of us) will go out for dinner. Sometime in there I have to fit in another load of laundry and some homework. But it's do-able. =)
