Oh my gosh. I had
Oh my gosh. I had SO MUCH FUN in Chicago. The W Hotel is AWESOME. They had doormen and bellmen and everything, and everyone was dressed ALL in black and the lighting was very dim and the decorating was dark and really classy and they played cool music. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights they have a party (but we got there too late and missed it.. sadness). The place really reminded me of a club. Amazing. We stayed on the 20th floor and our room was SO COOL. It was done in black and tan and deep purple with black and white photographs on the walls and it was huge and SO NICE. Man. The beds had down comforters and down pillows and down pads over the mattresses. I didn't want to get out of bed. So nice. I can see why celebrities stay there. It's right in the smack-dab middle of downtown, and all the buildings are SO close. Lol. We could see into people's rooms in the hotel next door, and even being on the 20th floor wasn't high enough to see sky between the buildings and was too high to see the ground. That was kinda weird. Lol. The only thing was tipping... we didn't know when or how much, and I feel really bad about that. Lol. I need a Tipping Etiquette Book or something. Ha ha.
The hotel was about 5 blocks from the Art Institute, and it was a BEAUTIFUL day. In the 40's. Aarti and I were both wearing turtleneck sweaters, so we took off our coats and we were fine. We got to the Art Institute too early, so we went down to the lake and walked along it for about 45 minutes. Took some pictures, enjoyed the view... SO FUN. I LOVE hanging out in Chicago. We would have gone to Navy Pier if we'd had more time, and the Swiss was RIGHT around the bend, but we didn't have time to walk that far. I kinda wanted to check it out. Lol. We went back to the Art Institute, and aside from the masses of annoyingly loud schoolchildren, we had a great time there, as well. I absolutely love the Impressionistic exhibits. I could spend the whole day wandering through those rooms. We spent a lot of time looking at the photography, too, which was pretty sad because they had pictures of September 11. =( But all in all, it was a GREAT day. And now we're back in Champaign... back to real life. Heehee. I feel like my weekend's over and it's only just starting!! Woohoo! It was SO worth missing classes today.
