Movies, movies, movies
I feel like all I've been doing lately is seeing movies! Which is not a bad thing. After Mystic River on Saturday, I saw Lost in Translation on Monday and Against the Ropes on Tuesday. Heh.
Backing up just a little bit... on Sunday, we had tickets to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Prairie Center. Good show. Joseph was the same guy who played the role at Fremd's performance this fall, and he's phenomenal. This show, however, seemed a little like a dance recital... there were TONS of kids on stage. Tons. It was a bit overwhelming at times, and sometimes the choir parts overpowered the main storyline, so that was a bit poopy. But the choreography was quite good, and everyone in it was excellent.
Afterwards, we went to Wildfire to eat. A bit pricier than I had anticipated, but really good. Our waiter was cool, and I love how the whole place is decorated. Reminded me of 1940's Hollywood.
Then, of course, the Superbowl. I'm not really one for football, truth be told. I watched for commercials, but even those were kind of sucky. The halftime show... I'm not even sure I should comment on that. All I have to say is that it was inappropriate and in bad taste, but hell, what is the big deal? It's driving me nuts that this is the top news story still. Personally, I'd rather my kid see .3 seconds of Janet's boob than a car bombing in Iraq. But that's just me. So whatever. And the fact that they now cancelled JC's Pro Bowl halftime performance this weekend pisses me off. I was really looking forward to that, and what does what happened at the Superbowl have to do with HIM? ARGH. I'm done.
I was off Monday. Now that M has a job, I have no day-off buddies! I went shopping in the morning (and came home with two pairs of pants and five shirts for $120... not bad!). I needed new work clothes, especially pants. Unfortunately, one of the pairs of pants has a broken zipper... I can fix it, but it's only temporary. I have to take them back. Bah. I really like them, too. I hope they have more in my size!
Anyway, after the shopping, I went to see Lost in Translation. All by myself. Yay! I'd never been to a movie alone before! It was liberating. Heh. It was a 2:00 show, and there were about a dozen other people there. Not ONE of them was with someone else. All of us were alone. I guess that's what happens at 2:00 on a Monday. Especially in a movie like that. Which I did like, Lost in Translation. The acting was very good, and it was a visually very pretty film to watch. It just moved a leeeeettle bit slow at times. But good. AND I'VE SEEN ALL FIVE BEST PICTURE NOMINEES BEFORE THE OSCARS!!! WOOHOO! That's been a goal of mine for years, and this is the first time I've managed it.
On Tuesday, we had a Call Night at work. Yuck, yuck, and more yuck. Things are getting very frustrating, and that's all I'll say about that.
After the Call Night, I met my mom and some of the girls from Curves at the Loews. Curves had passes to the press screening of Against the Ropes, the new Meg Ryan movie that's coming out on the 20th. It was pretty good! I'm not usually one for boxing movies, and I probably wouldn't have seen it if it hadn't been free, but it wasn't bad. Omar Epps, who played the boxer, was real good. I enjoyed him.
And that, my friends, is that. Yesterday was another boring night of working out and watching TV. Heh. And we are up to date on the life of Kate! I honestly didn't mean for that to rhyme....

Kate! You still can have a day off buddy! I almost never work Mondays! :) We should get together when you have a Monday off. Of course, this coming Monday Craig and I will be off to the beautiful Carribean for our Honeymoon. Ahhh... :) Let's try to get together on an up and coming Monday!
