Oh, the perils of LA
I spent about three hours outside on a glorious Southern California day. Gentle breeze, not a cloud in the sky, probably mid-80's. I was reading Lucky by Alice Sebold and drinking ice water and listening to my ipod, and for a while, dangling my feet in the pool. At first, it was so, so cold. By the end, I could almost imagine swimming in it. I'll give it a few weeks to warm up in the sun, though. I could totally get used to this.
I did, however, get a bit of a sunburn. It didn't feel that hot, but it tricked me! Both forearms, left upper arm/shoulder, across my chest, both knees. Ow. I had sunscreen on my face and arms, but it's my knees that got burned the worst. I'd started out wearing jeans, and then switched into my bathing suit and a cute little terry cloth skirt, and never thought to put sunscreen on my legs. Oops. I forget how quickly my skin soaks up the first sustained sunshine of the season.
Even despite the sunburn, it was a wonderful day off. But now I'm exhausted from too much doing nothing, too much sun. Bed now, and it's back to the gind tomorrow.
