Tuesday, 1/1/08: Rose Bowl
I never imagined I'd see the University of Illinois playing in Pasadena, but the stars aligned and 2008 started with the Fighting Illini vs. the USC Trojans. Sarah had obtained a few extra tickets, so Aarti flew out and we attended the game. And what fun it was! The energy was high (as would be expected with more than 93,000 attendees), the Marching Illini were in top form, and the team gave it the old college try, at least. *g* It was a pretty sorry loss at 49-10, but hey, Illinois scored. Twice, even! A touchdown and a field goal.
There are more pictures in the Rose Bowl set here.
It was a truly *excellent* way to start 2008, even with the outcome of the game as it was. It was fun to remember the game day traditions and to be in a sea of orange. And among people who call pop pop, instead of soda. Hee.
I-L-L! I-N-I!!
