JC's really close to having his video retired on TRL. 2 days, people. Friday and Monday. The fans have gotten him this far - he doesn't get ANY airtime on MTV at all. We've gotten him this far, I want to get him to the end.

I write you a ficlet when you tell me you've voted as much as you can. That simple. You do something that takes less than five minutes, you get a little story all to yourself. If you vote Friday AND Monday, telling me both days, you get an even longer fic! Just tell me the fandom you want (nsync, britney, WENN, XFiles, Dawson's Creek, Buffy, Angel, Harry Potter, General Hospital, Lizzie McGuire. Others possible, just ask), pairing you want, het or slash, and story type (angst, fluff, etc). I can also do original.
C'mon, guys. I know all of this is probably annoying, but it doesn't take much time, and I'd be very grateful.

It is unclear how many votes per person MTV will count each day. I have seen a report to the effect that MTV logs votes by IP address. If this is true, then clearing cookies won't help (though logging off DSL and back on may). On the other hand, this report claims that each person is allowed 10 votes per 24-hour period, so we should at least be able to do that much.
The 10 votes/IP address report is, of course, not something we can get a confirmation on from MTV. Therefore, I would still advise deleting your cookies after each vote, and putting in a different name/birthdate/comment for each vote. Here are two methods of deleting cookies on PCs (if I have any of the steps wrong, please correct me!):
Close all browser windows.
Open "My Computer."
Open your C drive.
Open "WINDOWS."
Open "Temporary Internet Files."
Delete all cookie files containing "mtv" or "trl," such as Cookie:???@mtv.com.
or
Close all browser windows.
Open "My Computer."
Open "Control Panel."
Open "Internet Options."
Click "Delete Cookies," then "OK."
Note: This option is faster than searching for specific cookies, but it will log you out of all sites that use cookies to remember you!
For Mac users, Merry adds:
You can delete cookies from Internet Explorer in Mac OS X by choosing Preferences from the Explorer menu, then scrolling down through the preferences to "cookies". In the window with the cookies listed, either click the MTV cookies and hit the delete button or hit apple/option-A to select all and hit the delete button. Hit ok to close preferences, close the program; reopen the program, vote.
Again, this is a lot more time-consuming than just voting over and over again without leaving the MTV site, and it may not be necessary, but we might as well do everything we can to make our votes count.
