On the Road Again!!

This is it! t-10.5 hours until we hit the road. First stop, Nashville, TN. Then off to Panama City FL (3 days), Orlando (5 days), Hilton Head (2 days), Atlanta (2 days) and Memphis (2 days)! We shall be back late on January 29. I probably won't be able to update while we're gone, but I fully intend to do a detailed summary after.

Almost everything is packed now. Just a few morning extras to go - teddy bear and mask, toiletries, cell and charger. And Sims 2, since I may sneak in a few minutes of game play tonight. <.g> (I have it installed on my parents laptop, but I don't bother transferring so it's all new/different.)

I, myself, have three bags. Eeep! One suitcase of all my clothes, one backpack of shoes and misc things and my "carry on" backpack with things to do in the car and hotel. 5 books, 3 notebooks, 3 DVDs, Sims 2 and my iPod. Should be more than enough, which is what I like.

I went to my first Brownies meeting tonight. TOTAL CHAOS! Oy. And my girl's meds aren't quite working out for her. Then!

I took her and her friend A. We park and as we walk up, A says, "Oooh, ice!" and glides across as I warn her to be careful. She is grace itself and does fine. After, we're walking back to the car. All of a sudden, BOOM! I find myself on the cold hard asphalt. I'm just registering an OW when I feel a whoosh beside me. Yes, C has fallen just about right next to me. I'm immediately asking if she's okay and telling A to stop as she says, "Ooooh, ice!" and tries to skate across it again and letting her other friend's mom help us up all at the same painful time. Bottom line, C's fine, I'm sore and we are Klutzes. Her mom was so amused.

Yesterday, it hit 65, a record high. Today is snowed. I had to clean my car off after two hours at work. I got home at 3:30 and by 6:10 when I left to get the girls, ALL of my doors had frozen shut!! The windchill now is 8. Tomorrow morning when we leave, they're predicting the actual temp will be about 0. ::whimper::

Checking the weather - tomorrow and Saturday (it's just an overnight stop) it will be about 40. 60s while we're in Panama City. Can't tell the others yet, but it seems to be 70s in Orlando.

Nifty.

See you all on the flip side!!!

The Zoo AND Chasing Rainbows updates!

Instead of writing the 6 ficlets/stories my friends requested, I played around with my website. <.g>

Chasing Rainbows:
*I updated the pictures and text fonts on the Index Page
*I updated my original works page with my last wallpaper: Original Works
*I updated Remember WENN with a new story: Holiday Interlude
*Resolved to give my original works page its own name and layout.

The Zoo
*Updated my site with two new stories: A Romantic Thing (Lance is pretty sure Justin is woo-ing him) and The Lovely Things Thanksgiving Brings (JC and Lance's First Hosted Thanksgiving. Do those ever go well?).

Not bad, not bad. I feel rather productive!

Now I just have to write Ron/Luna, Lorelai/Luke, Scott/Betty, WENN/Harry Potter crossover, Sports Night adopting a stray and domestic JC/Lance. Oy. Oh, and pray for a snow day tomorrow. I'm scared to drive in 8 inches of snow!!

2004 in review

Kate did a runthrough of her year, and I thought that might be a neat idea. It's weird- I feel like I'm in the exact same place as I was last year at this time, 1/1/04 feels like yesterday, but I'm really not. Hmm. Let's see.

January
*I was working on the exact same story I am this year (NYC!Lambs)
*I had a dream about BrookLynn on GH (which, dude, came true. Wild.)
*I drove in snow for the first time
*I wrote a story and vowed it would not be another 2 story year. (It was 3.)
*I accidentally went blonde.

February
*Josh was sick and went in for a LOT of endocrinological tests.
*Odd things happened to mine and Kate's blogs.
*Karey came to visit.
*JC's album came out!
*Tiff wrote a video concept that I still love.

March
*Josh subluxed his knee and came too close to needing more surgery.
*More odd things happened on our blogs - turns out Kate and I had used up all the space on our domain.
*I was rejected by 4 grad schools.
*I visited Jennie in Texas!!

April
*Dad had a small stroke.
*I saw RENT with my friend's mom.

May
*I celebrated my 23rd Lead Awareness Day.
*I saw JC in conert!!
*My cousin got married and I was bridesmaid.
*I was officially rejected by all 6 grad schools.
*Cheered myself up with *NSYNC marathon and many viewings of JC's video for ADIDAS.

June
*We got cable internet!!
*Mom and I saw PoA at midnight, the first showing.
*Finished my *NSYNC Bear collection and had a facial and pedicure at a marathon mall outing.
*Moved out of my bedroom into the guest room to recarpet/paint. (Still not back.)

July
*Spent Fourth of July at neat resort with my family.
*Got hired to work with my girl again.
*Went to another spa for my first massage, and a manicure. Liked the manicure best.
*Saw Hilary Duff in concert.
*Accidentally outed myself as a slasher to my mom, who was more interested in Harry/Ron than horrified.

August
*Got accepted to speech grad school, horrifying me, thrilling my mom and throwing my entire life into turmoil. Yay!
*Quit my job and decided to try grad school.
*Ate delicious venison at $100+ dinner.

September
*Mired in self-doubt while in speech.
*Josh was diagnosed with a kidney stone.
*Escaped into Queer as Folk.
*Escaped into The Sims 2.
*Went out to dinner with just my parents for the first time in 15 years.

October
*Left grad school.
*Became focused on The Gilmore Girls.
*Dad got second degree burns on his knees.
*Got hired for a job in an autism class.
*Quit the job after 3 days.
*Did a presentation at a national conference.
*Stayed in a hotel suite with a big fireplace and slept in a king sized canopy bed.

November
*Was offered 2 jobs, one of which I accepted. (preschool vs. bookstore)
*Felt very wintery and made two wallpapers.
*Josh turned 16. Eeep!

December
*Accepted and began a morning ECE job.
*Wrote 2 stories (1 *NSYNC, 1 Remember WENN)

And thus with my year. Fraught with medical emergencies and a lot of change. Funny how I don't feel changed, though.

Happy 2005!

On NYE, my family and I watched The Princess Diaries 2. Oh, with the cuteness! I was all grumpy all afternoon and it lifted me right up. I kinda crushed on Nicholas, what with the wit and books, but then he wore glasses and I was gone. <.g> But it was sweet and cute and fluffy fun and I greatly enjoyed it.

In the tradition of "what you do at midnight is what you do all year," I was smiling, chatting with friends and writing. (The same story I was writing the last two years at midnight. Perhaps I should try another story next year.)

Then it went downhill after I was awoken at 8:30 by my father, telling me mom was sick. She, hermit of the world, managed to contract influenza. You can imagine how happy she is. Poor thing is just sleeping constantly, and is just a mess. : ( I hope she feels better soon.

So this weekend, I did a lot with Josh and around the house. We got Christmas and winter stuff down. Tomorrow I start work at the pm place, so I'll be working all day again. I'm nervous about it all. I hope I get back into the groove of working with kids again.

Last week, my girl from last year came over. (Three times I saw her over Christmas break! LOL) She's so funny. She went around saying, "Josh is a big kid. Josh is a freshman in high school. Josh is a BIG kid. C is a medium kid." A medium kid! She cracks me up. Too cute.

I am fully exhausted and I really must get to bed early. (Perhaps not THIS early, but certainly before 10.) So, I wish you all a happy and healthy 2005. {{HUGS}}
