good heavens!

So I went to this page in order to hit my dailys and reads, right? It looks so much different on my parents' computer! The scrolly things are read, there are dotted line thingies surrounding all of my headers on the left sidebar and around each post, and the little dotted line thingies appear under a link when I click on it! I'm sure this isn't new to all of you, but it is to me. <.giggle>

Oh, but Kate, your site was, like, crashing me. Kinda. All the text blurred together. It was kinda weird, like what happens to me everytime I hit YahooGroups. DOes anyone else have that problem?

Ya know, your site looks like how you described on my parents' computer, too! It's so bizarre. Lol. Do your parents have WindowsME? That's the only thing I can think of that would be different from school and home... ha ha.

what browser do you have at school vs. what browser do you have at home? I should do some troubleshooting, but I'd need to know that to find out WHY!

And doll, it should have a red scrollbar and dotted lines aaround stuff here - you must have a REALLY old browser if you can't see that!

I dreamt that you changed the design over here last night. I was very critical of it... LOL, I'm a dork - you can change if you like ;)

I don't know about Rina, but I can tell you MY browser settings (since I'm seeing the same things as she is). I'm using IE both at school and at home, but at school, the IE I'm using came with my computer 4 years ago (and I have Windows 95 on that computer as well), and this IE came with this computer last year, with Windows ME. Do you need to know the specific versions of IE, or does having the year help? *g*

So you don't see the dotted lines around her posts at school, either, Kate? Go into your browser, and go to Help on the toolbar and then select About Internet Explorer. It should tell you a version #. I'm guessing that you have IE5, since you can't see the stuff that is normal IE5.5.

The main reason I would suggest you both upgrade browsers is because there are higher security settings in IE5.5 and IE6, and that will keep you safer from viruses and safer when/if you when are ordering anything online.

I think the easiest way to upgrade browsers is to go to Tools on your IE toolbar and then Windows Updates. This will bring you to a page that tells about what things can be updated, and should give you a link to IE6 or IE5.5 (since I'm all the way updated, I can't tell you for sure what you'll see - it doesn't show me the stuff I already have updated!)

Kate, when you are at home, do you see odd things your page like Rina does, or does it all look okay? With Win ME, it probably came preinstalled with at least IE5.5, so you'll be seeing red scrollbars and dotted lines around Rina's posts. Oh, and colored scrollbars on your journal - they look sharp! :)

Yup, my parents have ME. *g* I'm still stuck at 5.0, Win98 I believe. Maybe I'll try updating when I get back to school...it looks cool the way it's supposed to! LOL I have solid lines around posts, regular colored scrolly bars, and no underlines on links. *g*

I think I do have IE 5 at school. Here I've got version 6.0. If I remember correctly, though, it wouldn't let me upgrade because I needed at least Win 98. Or something. But I'll see what I can do. *g* And I don't know what you mean by "odd things"... I get dotted lines and stuff, but I don't get a jumbled mess of words when I view my journal, like she was saying. And I do like the way the scrollbars loon (on both our journals)!
