Ow.

I was so proud of myself, walking 2.5 miles yesterday, running errands all over town. Then I got home, and my knee ached. Kinda weird. By bedtime, I was limping and couldn't straighten it without pain. Now it's morning, it hurts like hell, I'm braced and not supposed to get out of bed. Grrrr argh.

Bummer is that I was going to Liss's Halloween party tonight, and I was going to wear my 1950s vintage party dress for a costume, complete with pearls, pumps and white Snow White gloves. And now I'm stuck in shorts and a tshirt, in bed, because I need to be able to drive tomorrow to my jobs. Sigh. I am so disappointed. And, also, sore.

writing

Two years ago, I wrote two stories. Last year, I wrote 3. This year, I've already written 4 (pop, BSC, 2 HP), with definite plans for a 5th (sesa, natch). So, of course, what do I do about this?

Decided to add a novel, too.

Why yes, I am insane, thanks for asking. I decided what the hell, it can't hurt. I got a nibble of an idea and then this morning, it just crystallized. I got a brainstorm, played with it, and then when I was driving home, it clicked. I had a plot, theme, crisis point and resolution. And just as I realized I had a workable story plotted out, the sun came out and lit my car. I started cracking up.

Now, it's not going to be the Great American Novel. It'll be American, and a Novel, but totally crappy and a cheesy romance, to boot. Yay cheesy crappy romances!! *g*

I'm debating how to go about this. Post it here? Make a new journal just for it? Make something on LJ, like my vacation journal? It needs to be someplace public so I feel accountable. LOL

Titanic Mystery

This is amazing! I just watched a PBS special on how DNA was used to find the name of the unknown child found at the Titanic. Gripping and fascinating and totally wild that this little boy finally has a grave with his name on it after 90 years.

Secrets of the Dead . Titanic's Ghosts | PBS

I've been jonesing for the Kate/Leo movie and this just kicked that into high gear. LOL But seriously, amazing.

tra la la

Last night's Astros game was *heartbreaking.* Gah, to lose the lead in the top of the 9th, 1 out from the World Series. Ouch.

I finally got the VMars S1 DVDs this weekend and OMG I am so addicited. It's brilliant. Just a bitch to come in mid season, like I tried. I'm loving S2, though, and S1 is a delight, so it's all good now. All hail TV on DVD.

I still enjoy my library job, even if I did have to search dumpsters last night. Argh.

I'm sitting with C tonight, so I'm bringing along my VMars and watching some after she's asleep. It should, I hope, keep me awake when I am very very tired. One of these nights, I need to turn off the damn computer and get a good night's sleep.

my closet is a scary place to be

Glamorous Soul
48% Tastefulness, 53% Originality, 45% Deliberateness, 54% Sexiness
[Tasteful Original Deliberate Sexy]

You choose your outfits carefully according to many criteria. You don't like looking cheap, dull or random and you go to great lengths to avoid this. You are successful, too. People admire your taste and sex appeal. Many try to imitate you but not many can recreate your unique style. Sometimes, however, they find you too intimidating to approach. If you don't wear retro style yet, perhaps you should consider it. It would become greatly your sexy, mysterious self.

The opposite style from yours is Fashion Enemy [Flamboyant Conventional Random Prissy].

Fun!

I don't think I'm going to hit the same number of posts in October as September. LOL I can already feel myself cutting back, although this quickpost thing makes it FAR easier and I use it every time. It's just weird talking into the ether and not getting responses. Not that I need comments, but it's nice to know if people are reading. As it is, this place is too public to treat it like a real diary, but too quiet to spend time posting super neat fun things.

Maybe *I* need to start commenting to other people again.

Fic update

Would you look at that! Two stories finished by the deadline. Go, me! I'm impressed with myself. LOL Media fic, even. Even rarer.

I present the fully updated Harry Potter website:
Chasing Rainbows

New fics are both Ron/Hermione, Countdown and Safety Matters. I also updated my gallery page with my new Ron/Hermione wallpaper, Message Board. I am so proud of that wallapaper - my manipulation, my pegboard, my cards and all.

Enjoy!

NaNo NaNo

My desktop is fixed! YAY! Geek Squad came out yesterday, swapped power sources, apologized and went on his merry way. Bliss.

I am so into Veronica Mars this season. I downloaded the theme song...kickass.

I love my job. I love it with the power of 1000 burning suns. Yay jobs that let me get paid for reading and playing with computers! It's bliss.

Given that this job is so quiet at night, I think I'm going to join NaNoWriMo. I've always kind of wanted to do it. So this weekend I'll finish up (and, uh, start) my HP fic due Monday and then start plotting out My Very First Crappy Novel. Whoo!

Apparently I'm in a cheerful mood. It must also be the Wiggles song I downloaded and am listening to. Hot potato!

new beginnings

15 posts in September. That's the most since May 2003. Go, me! Of course, I think I'm the only one reading them, but oh well. LOL

I start my life as a librarian tomorrow. Wheeee! I'm not even nervous. That, I'm sure, will come later, when I've found out all that I need to do as a librarian. LOL I like my schedule, though - I get Tuesday/Thursday/Friday afternoons and evenings off, and the entire weekend off every other week. It's going to work well for me, even if Monday and Wednesdays will feel long. I still have 3 hours between jobs on those days. Plenty of time for a walk or just relaxing.

Tonight, I wish to watch WENN. I miss that show something fierce. I finished a HP story last night (9 days before it was due!!! A new record!!) and now have 8 days to finish the second one I signed up for. LOL That will be 3 stories this year, then, plus the SeSa I plan to write. That's one more than last year, which is one more than the year before. Go, me!
